Fully charged drone batteries

  1. Testing Substances:

Adjuvant to be tested (1 litre per batch)
Water (15 litres per test batch)
3 batches to be tested for a total of 3 litres of adjuvant & 45 litres of water

Note: 1 batch completed as ground test + 1 batch completed as aerial test

  1. Other Equipment:

Measuring jug or similar container for accurate mixing
Personal protective equipment (PPE) for handlers (e.g., gloves, goggles, protective
clothing)
Field markers or flags

  1. Documentation Tools:

Smartphone with a notes app for logging observations
Camera for recording observations

Weather in general: Dry and windy

Wind Speed: High

Temperature: 10 deg c

Ground Test

  • Adjuvant was mixed at 1 litre to 15 litres of water, 16L total loaded into drone spray tank

  • Spray system was initiated and cleared of air allowing both nozzles to operate

  • Spray test was initiated, beginning with the most coarse droplet setting (500 um)

  • Spray test was then conducted at each droplet setting down to the finest setting (50 um)

  • Consistent flow was observed at all droplet settings

  • Even spray distribution was observed at all droplet settings

  • No signs of blockage were observed at all droplet settings




  • After spray test, filters did not appear clogged

    • Minor residue was observed in tank filter, easily washed out

  • After washdown and rinse through, clear water came through the system with no signs of blockage or residue

  • Once the system was emptied of water, tank filters were checked with no signs of blockage or residue

Weather in general: Dry with mild wind

Wind Speed: less than 3mph

Temperature: 17 deg c

  • Spray system was initiated and cleared of air allowing both nozzles to operate

  • Flight was initiated, 2.5m height above crop, 5m row width

  • Flight spray test was initiated, beginning with the most coarse droplet setting (500 um)

  • Flight spray test was then conducted at each droplet setting down to the finest setting (50 um)

  • Consistent flow was observed at all droplet settings

  • Even spray distribution and minimal drift was observed at all droplet settings

  • No signs of blockage were observed at all droplet settings
